Chairman & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Pramod Raj Sedhain is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Nepal News Pvt. Ltd. and the publisher of Nepal News. In November 2024, Mr. Sedhain acquired Nepal’s first news portal with a vision to revitalize the brand, strengthen its legacy, and establish it as a leader in digital journalism in Nepal. Under his leadership, Nepal News has launched transformative initiatives in News Room, including the Nepal Investigative Bureau and the Climate Desk, aiming to redefine the standards of professionalism and innovation in Nepal's media landscape.
As Chairman and CEO, Mr. Sedhain oversees all operations of Nepal News, driving its strategic growth and editorial excellence. Before taking on his current role, Mr. Sedhain served as the Director and CEO of Khabarhub, Radio Candid, Joy Nepal and Pavilion Media Group, beginning in January 2019.
His career in journalism started at an early age, with a brief stint in FM radio news before joining Nepal’s first news channel, Sagarmatha Television (STV), in 2007. Over more than a decade at STV, he climbed the ranks from a junior reporter to top leadership roles, including Correspondent, Special Correspondent, News Coordinator, Producer and Presenter of STV’s signature programs, and ultimately News and Program Chief of the station.
Mr. Sedhain has also worked as a freelancer for various international media outlets. His stories have appeared in the U.S.-based United Press International (UPI) and The Daily Journalist, among others. Domestically, he has contributed to Nepali dailies such as Naya Patrika and Annapurna Post, as well as English-language weeklies and digital news portals. His write-ups mostly focuses on foreign policy, strategic affairs, defense, counter-terrorism, intelligence, organized crime, and national security.
Mr. Sedhain has reported on pivotal global events. He covered the 2014 European Parliament Elections, the 2012 French Presidential Election, and significant events reporting such as the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon, and the UNAMID mission in Darfur, Sudan. Notably, he was the first Nepali television journalist to report from North Korea. He has also covered the various issues in South Korea, Pakistan, the Middle East, Myanmar, Iran, India, and dozens of other countries. Many of his stories have been groundbreaking, marking historic firsts in Nepalese journalism. Mr. Sedhain has extensively traveled across the globe, visiting around five dozens countries in Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe, and North America.
